Abstract
Mahdism is one of the issues that has been misused by different contemporary movements. The takfiri group of ISIL has taken advantage of the narrations regarding Mahdism in order to legitimatize their brutal crimes and to attract different groups of people. Combining these narrations with the issue of Islamic caliphate, they have introduced their state as the promised end of times state which will set the grounds for Reappearance of the Savior. This manipulation is obvious in their sociopolitical movements and statements.
