Analyzing Ibn Taymiyyah's view on Imam in Islamic community

one of the most important issues in the field of Islamic politics is the quality of appointing an Imam in Islamic community. Therefore, this essay is going to examine the various dimensions of imam, such as: the necessity of imam's existence, the conditions of choosing an imam, and etc. from Ibn Taymiyyah's view. He believes that "the man is civil by nature", insisting that every Muslim community, however small, must have an Imam. Therefore, he has put forward conditions for the imam on two levels, "public" and "private", among which, the basic principle and important condition is the companionship of the people of Shaukat with the imam, which has affected other conditions as well. Although the companionship of Ahl Shaukat has been used by him as a cover for justifying the use of violence. But he maintain that Imam must have some attributes such as observing justice, choosing the best governor and so on. In Ibn Taymiyyah view any armed protest against the Imam is forbidden.
