Abstract
The famous narration " no one loves you except a true believer and no one hates you except a hypocrite " is one of the narrations that have been narrated on the virtue of Imam Ali (PBH). Both Sunni and Shia scholars have accepted this Hadith. In this hadith, the Holy Prophet (PBH) made friendship and enmity with Imam Ali (PBH) the criteria for distinguishing between a believer and a hypocrite. Also, we can infer from this Hadith the infallibility and superiority of Imam Ali (PBH). In Sunni sources, there is no Hadith such this narration on the superiority of other disciples of the Holy prophet (PBH). Care must be taken that in Sunni sources there are some narration on the superiority of Medina disciples' of the Holy prophet, making the Sunni scholars undermine the position of Imam Ali (PBH) in the above-mentioned Hadith. But we must know that this Hadith is not reliable and conflict with many Quranic verses and historical facts. Contemporary Salafis, including Abd al-Rahman Dimashqiah, following Ibn Taymiyyah, have tried to weaken this Hadith, but it seems that this Hadith is so famous and reliable that no one can undermine it.
